Scholarship Committee Report

Chairman: Rad Yager

The Camilla Rotary Club has always had an interest in the welfare of the community and we believe that our youth are vital to a prosperous  and stable City of Camilla. In that regard the Scholarship Committee intends to recommend to the Rotary Club that we select a college bound student from each of our local high schools and make them the recipients of $1,000.00 college scholarships.  These students will be selected on their academic scores, leadership skills, and extra curricular activities.  We also intend to recommend that we select a deserving student from each school that is planning on attending a technical school and award them $250.00 scholarships.

In selecting the recipients of these scholarships, we sill solicit candidates from teachers and counselors from both Mitchell-Baker and Westwood  Schools.  The Scholarship Committee will review and select the winners in the spring of 2000 and plan an awards program at a regular rotary Club meeting in May.  The winner's families and school officials will be invited to attend the awards program.

Helping a young person attain a higher degree of education could well be the most important service program the Camilla Rotary Club does for our  community. The Scholarship Committee is looking forward to selecting a few deserving students to win scholarships.
